3. Green Mark Certification Evaluation Criteria
Green Mark is recognized by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of SingaporeBuilding and Construction Authority issued in 2005 to guide and lead Singapore's construction industry towards sustainable development, increasing understanding among investors, contractors, design consultants, and other market participants from the project's ideation and design stages.
Green Mark has a similar structure to previously issued green building rating systems, including categories such as energy, water, materials, indoor environmental quality, etc. According to BCA, Green Mark has undergone significant adjustments to be more suitable for the tropical climate. Each category consists of mandatory criteria (usually corresponding to the mandatory building codes of Singapore's construction law) and beyond-code criteria (projects receive points when they meet the requirements of these criteria). Depending on the total points achieved by the project, it can be certified at one of three levels: Gold, Gold Plus and Platinum.
